Eurotrip day IV – june 23th 2008
We will not be real tourists if we were not gone to the canal cruise. Canal cruise is one of the better ways to get to know the city. Capitan of the boat was very helpful and funny. The ride is worth its cost (it is about €10 and it takes about 1.5 hour).
The captain of the boat is the guide at the same time. He is originally from Holland, so he knows what he’s talking about. He didn’t just showed us important local buildings, but shared some local specialties. One of the better ones was: “Watch at the pedestrian crossing. Do not cross it when it is red, because you can get hit by a car, and be careful when you cross it when it is green, because you can get hit by a bicycle!”
Since we were already in the center, we decided to look for the famous red district. We didn’t exactly know where it is, we just knew it is in the center, and that it is divided by the canal.
Finally, we found it. But red district is not shining in its full glory until the night falls down. But it becomes dark only after 23h hours, so we had more than three hours to spare.
We took one tour around the red district and head back to the hotel.
The night to come was fun to be there. First we experimented with the crazy mushrooms. It seems like their effect hits each person differently, but when it hits, it hits
It was fun.
Later on we went to the red district. It really is special in the someway. I think you can not imagine the place until you don’t visit it.
I think it is not allowed to take pictures in the red district. One of the ladies of the night saw me with my phone in my hand, and she hid herself behind the curtain. This is why we have no photos of the red district at the night. The picture bellow is borrowed from: Amsterdam Red Light District Info Page
Later on we had few beers in a nearby clubs, and gone to one more tour of the red district. We didn’t purchase any services
(i’m not sure why).
Maybe next time, if i’ll still be single
